Marian electronics U-boat Torpedo

I've been working on this one for a while for Nick as it's a real oddity. No info on the web whatsoever although we did have the manual which was lucky.

This tech is based on the Texas TMS9995 cpu and these are pretty rare too.

This had the usual battery rot issues and quite a few of the chips had the green plague all over their legs, plus many components were damaged. Luckily there was no track damage.

The PSU components nearly all needed changing probably through moisture ingress. This is the after pic, I forgot to take one before but the power transistors were covered in rust and the caps were shot.

Once all new sockets had been put in and chips replaced it was time for a test. Without a machine I only had one option and that was to build a small test rig so that I could check the functionality.

There's two sections to the vid, the first shows the coin credits and user buttons and the second half shows the Arduino 'reel faker' unit I'm working on (sorry it's a bit dark) to emulate the Starpoint reel mech.

The idea of the game is you get battleships lined up on the reels (I think) then you have to try and sink them with the torpedo. That's when I'm hitting the middle nudge button. No doubt all will be revealed when Nick restores the cabinet.

The solenoid test lamps were disconnected as they would have blinded the camera. I've got these running off of the 50v AC supply via a diode and they do run a little bit over 24v and too warm, but it's only for testing.
