Scorpion 1 sound restoration

Hello everyone!

My Scorpion 1 board inside my BFM90 Cabinet was giving me some trouble with sound. The quality was really bad and distorted.
Rearranging the the potentio meter for the volume didnt do much anymore at the end, so i decided to have a look at it.

The board pretty looks the same like the rest of the Scorpion 1 boards i have seen here on the forum. The battery had puked all over the audio area.

Some area's were heavy corroded, also the green power led had died. Underneith the board the corrosion was much worse and i decided to clean it all with one of my fibre glass pens.

After removing the components that need to be replaced i cleaned the contact areas so the new components could be clean fitted.
One of the tracks of the battery was damaged so badly because of the corrosion. I had to make a new track for it to work right.

The board inside the cabinet:

I forgot to take some pictures when i finished the board, but it is all nice and clean now. The sound works perfectly again and can be turned on really loud with the new pot. I still hear some interference when alot of lights are turned on and some humming ticking noise from the reels, but that is for another time I suppose! I suspect the psu needs recapping. When the door is closed its muffled and i dont really hear it.

I also recapped all the capacitors on the board, i dont include them on my parts list but if you want to change them the right values can be easily spot on the side.
When I ordered my components I also ordered a LM380N amp, just in case to be sure but at the end i didnt need it because the original one is still good. (it was only 1 euro :P )

Parts used to restore the sound including battery and led ordered at Conrad:

- The battery used is a Varta 3/V150H 150mAh 3,6v

- Potentiometer 10mm x 12,5mm 100K Ohm
- Normal round through hole led 5mm

I hope someone finds this post usefull and can be helped!
