I would like to warn you all of the risk of fire with our Electro machines if you are running a 240v payout which most are. It is important you check the relay contacts on the cash and token payouts. I purchased a machine today which was listed as having a fire inside and it proves what Ron (BF74) has been saying on these forums for a long time. Please see Ron's post below.... Attached are the photos of the machine I purchased.
BF74 WROTE:-
Just to bring to the attention of electro owners...The burned out payslide and the resulting damage backs up a maintenance point that I have mentioned many times to electro owners...This is found to be weak spot with electro machines especially Bell Fruit using the 240vac slides..It's caused by the 10p payout relay..Although the relay coil like all the machines relay coils operates on 50vac..It's the 240vac across switching pins on the 10p payout relay that pulses the 10p payout solenoid..as the contacts of the pins switch, the high voltage across them causes them to flash or known as arcing..Eventually,without any cleaning maintenance, the worst case scenario is seen in the above pictures.. The constant arcing of the contacts can eventually cause them to weld together..This now becomes a major problem,as the payslide is only designed for a high powered pulse, the damaged relay pins are supplying a constant 240vac to the coil...Within minutes it will quickly heat up and start to burn with a great possibility of catching fire..because electro's run with higher amperage fuses compared to the MPU machines, the chances are that the above damage will be caused before the fuse blows....a visible view of your 10p payout relay is an easy check. The picture below shows how to identify the burning showing on the left relay compared to how a clean relay should look on the right...Compared to the machines working life,Home use won't make the contacts burn up anywhere near as fast but considering these machines have been around for many years I would expect many won't have had this relay serviced for some time and worth a look...
